Context & Scope
Contributed to aerodynamic analysis of a fixed-wing UAV, focusing on stability characteristics and aerodynamic interactions relevant to distributed propulsion configurations.
Technical Contributions
Performed longitudinal and lateral–directional stability analysis using XFLR5 and VSPAero to assess center-of-gravity placement and dynamic mode behavior.
Evaluated aerodynamic sensitivity to CG shifts and configuration changes to improve flight stability and control predictability.
Simulated propeller–wing interaction effects in ANSYS Fluent using rotating reference frames to quantify downwash influence on wing lift.
Analyzed flow-field modifications induced by propulsion systems and assessed their implications for aerodynamic performance and design trade-offs.
Key Engineering Considerations
Coupling between propulsion-induced flow and lifting surfaces, mesh resolution near rotating interfaces, and stability margins under varying operating conditions were central to the analysis.
Tools & Methods
ANSYS Fluent, XFLR5, VSPAero, aerodynamic stability analysis, CFD
